MENUMENU
Rian Johnson Is even solo series online More Proud Of Star Wars
Will the movie justify a long runtime? But the fact remains that movies that are solo series online 2.5 hours or shorter tend to get more plays in my house. This isn’t me banging on Matt Reeves’ window screaming “150 MINUTES OR ELSE”.
But if you watch the video in the OP and other videos by that guy it makes it clear, some of what CinemaSins says is what they think are legit criticisms. They try to be comedy and movie critic at the same time and fail at both. It amazes me the lengths people go to to try and destroy YouTube channels they hate. I’ll stop watching when I stop enjoying the content and not before. CinemaSins are fun to watch when they go after low-hanging fruit, ie The Last Airbender. But they have a flawed grasp of film criticism, their methodology is lazy , and the guy making the video actually has delusions that he’s calling out bad filmmaking, it’s not just nitpicking for the sake of getting some laughs.
They genuinely seem to keep their focus on making comedic content (although I’m pretty sure that there are some inaccuracies in their videos as well). Look, if you’re coming to CinemaSins expecting any sort of serious criticism of a movie and not because you enjoy watching someone make silly complaints movies that they may or may not like, you’re looking in the wrong place. CinemaSins started out great, a favorite of mine is the Prometheus episode.
And in most cases, he points that the characters name-drop Offscreen Moments of Awesome, which would have been great to see incorporated to the plot and actually depicted, and compares them with the “boring” moments depicted instead. I periodically watch CinemaSins either for movies I particularly like, or movies that are particularly bad. It can be annoying when they talk over parts of the movie that explain things they’re confused about, but no more annoying than it is, say, on this forum. Their “sins” have no quantitative value nor do they make any pretense of their “sins” being uniform or objective critiques.
It’s just like the honest trailers videos. CinemaSins is a YouTube channel created by Jeremy Scott and Chris Atkinson. The Matrix Resurrections is a film Jeremy found very hard to watch for a number of reasons. And this isn’t even going into the inconsistent writing Jeremy found. Really sick of people saying that because it’s a load of crap. Sure some of the times they’re like that.
Called out in Man of Steel as well. Not because Superman broke his Thou Shalt Not Kill rule, but because they feel slightly insulted that an hour-long fight scene is topped off with a bloodless neck snap. David Carradine’s credit in Death Race 2000 warrants a sin removal because of his badass status.
I’m kinda hoping Nowhere is Dz cos it’s cool to imagine he actually cooled down and is now an ok kind of person to talk to. 1) If you disagree with a person’s opinion – keep it to yourself. Not mine of course, seems entirely appropriate for this thread, and I didn’t see it posted already. I feel like this is the kind of thing that will inevitably attract all the racist youtube commenters, even if the original creator only meant it as satire.
